Why and how we use your personal information

When you purchase or sign up for emails about products, so we can tell you about the products, provide you with customised offers, and keep you informed about food photography resources

Pages on the Lauren Caris Food Photographer website, our affiliated site That's Sage, or any other affiliated sites operated by Short Media Enterprises, may include embedded content (e.g. videos or images, etc.). If you purchase a product, your personal information will be processed by our payment processing partner, Stripe. Their privacy policy, including information such as their data retention period, and their Privacy Shield certification, is published on their website. If you purchase one of our online courses, your personal information will also be processed by our course delivery partner, Teachery. Their privacy policy is also published on their website.

If you provide consent for cookies to be placed on your device, your personal information may be processed by our software partner, Deadline Funnel, to provide you with customised offers. Their privacy policy, including information such as their Privacy Shield certification, is published on their website.

If you provide consent for cookies to be placed on your device, your personal information may be processed by our advertising partner, Facebook. Their privacy policy, including information such as their data retention period, and their Privacy Shield certification, is published on their platform.

Your choices and rights regarding your data

  1. You can opt out of receiving our email newsletter, so that we don't use your personal data to send you information about food photography. You can request that we stop sending our emails on the topic of food photography to you at any time, by using the unsubscribe link that we provide at the bottom of all of our emails. Please note that if you purchased a product from us, we may still email you with important information that is required to provide you with this service.

  2. We will endeavour to process your request as soon as is reasonably practicable.

You have the right to erasure of the personal data we hold about you. If you would like for the personal data that we have collected about you to be erased, you may request us to do this by contacting us at any time, which you can do by emailing us at lauren@shortmediaenterprises.com. This would result in us being unable to continue providing you with services that you have requested, e.g. providing access to products that you have purchased and that we host on your behalf, or sending you information about food photography through our newsletter.
    For your protection and security, we may only erase personal data related to the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before we complete the request. We will endeavour to process your request as soon as is reasonably practicable.

  7. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Should you believe that our processing of your personal data is in anyway unlawful, you retain the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Before doing so, we would request that you contact us with your concerns, as we will always endeavour to deal with these as soon as possible.
    As Short Media Enterprises is registered and operates in Switzerland, the jurisdiction of this privacy and data policy is according to the law of Switzerland. Complaints should therefore be lodged with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

Changes to this Privacy and Data Policy

We regularly review and, where necessary, update our privacy and data policy with new, additional or changed information.

If we plan to use your personal data in a new way that is not covered in this privacy and data policy, we will update the policy and communicate these changes to you before we begin this processing.

E.g. if we provide a new course as part of the That's Sage suite of products, and this involves new ways of processing your personal data, we will update this privacy and data policy accordingly and ensure it is communicated to you at the time you can sign up to the new course.
